Sentinel Steel PLC is in existence in Ethiopia since December 2013 with the purpose of manufacturing and supply of quality steel rebars and other products to the construction industry.
Sentinel’s Precision TMT rebars have precise, uniform and parallel rib pattern engraved through computer controlled notch making machines, which results in excellent bond strength with concrete.
Lower levels of carbon ensure easier and faster welding without preheating. This means stronger and safer weld joints & reduction in wastage during welding at site.
TMT Rebars are provand to have higher resistance to cyclic loading conditions and are recommended in earthquake prone areas due to their superior seismic resistant properties.
Due to highly controlled manufacturing process that ensures a microstructure with a soft (ferrite and pearlite) core, TMT Rebars have excellent bendability (in spite of their high strength). This facilitates easy bending, making work easier and faster at construction sites.
The parallel rib pattern in TMT Rebars created in the final finishing eliminates the chance of torsion residual stress. This coupled with low carbon content leads to superior corrosion resistant properties as compared to ordinary rebars.
The quenching and self tempering treatment at a temperature of approximately 650°c results in a consistent and thick layer of tempered martensitic-rim on the outer surface of the TMT Rebars. This imparts higher capacity to retain strength at elevated temperatures.
Sentinel Steel PLC was established in December 2013 with the purpose of setting up a hot rolling steel manufacturing plant in Ethiopia. It’s manufacturing facility is located in Bishoftu, Oromia State, Ethiopia, approximately 50 km South East of Addis Ababa. The company’s rebar manufacturing facility is intended to serve the burgeoning demand for quality steel in the local construction sector.
The manufacturing operations of the company began in 2016, following the commissioning of its plant. This steel plant has an initial installed hot rolling capacity of 120,000 – 150,000 metric tonnes per annum (tpa).
